Admissions
Culverhill is a special school that provides a high quality and holistic education for 140 pupils with complex learning difficulties aged 7-16 in South Glos. We also have pupils placed here by Bristol, Glos and Wilts local authorities.
Class sizes are a maximum of 11 pupils per class with a Teacher and two Teaching Assistants.
Our pupils all have Education, Health and Care Plans which reflect complex learning difficulties plus a range of additional needs including Speech, Language and Communication.
Admissions to Culverhill are via South Glos 0-25 panel who meet weekly to look at a child’s EHCP review documentation and recommend where their needs might be best met. Prospective parents/carers should liaise with their child’s current school regarding the timing of review meetings. Culverhill is currently oversubscribed so requests for placements need to be made via the local authority.
The school does not make provision for children and young people whose primary Special Educational Need is Social, Emotional and Mental Health presenting with challenging behaviour. The school does not make provision for children and young people whose primary Special Education Need require a highly adapted sensory curriculum.

FOR THE ATTENTION OF LOCAL AUTHORITIES
If the local authority confirms that they wish to accept a place at Culverhill School for a young person at consultation, this automatically applies the funding included in our consultation response. If the local authority is not in agreement with the funding model in our consultation the offer of a placement is withdrawn.
